The department opens up five specialties such as Architectural Engineering Technology, Building Cost of Projects, Real Estate Management and Estimate, Project Management, Architectural Engineering Management. There are 984 students at present and a qualified teaching staff of 68 teachers ,among them ,30 professors and associate professors, 20 lecturers, 38 “double teacher” teachers.         The teachers are very diligent and trying to be scholar teachers. They have published more than 30 papers in specialized publications of provincial level and above.

The department has advanced scientific research and teaching experiment instruments, as well as civil engineering lab, sand and crushed stone lab, mortar concretes lab, mechanics lab, measuring lab, electrician lab, autoCAD engine room and multimedia classrooms and so on.　The department has ste up 11 practical bases inside and outside , many buildings of different styles inside campus such as teaching buildings ,lab building, library building, dinning hall, apartment building and stadium etc. and practical bases outside such as construction companies, construction materials plants and steel structure companies etc..  Cooperation between school and enterprises guarantees students' practice fully.

The department takes teaching as a center, implements comprehensively the teaching idea of “students as root, quality as soul” and reinforces talents training pattern ---“quality as core,  ability as base, skill as keystone”.Good study atmosphere thus has been formed and great achievements have been made in the entrance examination of undergraduate university. In 2007, 82 students of civil engineering speciality participated the entrance examination of undergraduate university and all of them got marks above the enrollment lines and 66 were enrolled by Shandong Construction University, Shandong Scientific and Technical University, Jinan University, accounting more than 1/3 of the whole 190 enrolled students in Shandong province.

The department pays great attention to theoretical teaching as well as students' skill training. Experiment and practice will be carried out fully according to the curriculum each semester with high quality. Students' operating abilities are well-trained in our school. Students can earn many occupational qualification certificates issued by the construction system before graduation which will build a good foundation for them in employment.

Students can gain perfect theoretical knowledge and strong operating ability here. They are precise and diligent and willing to endure hardships.They can qualify for their position well and are welcome among employers. The employment situation is good and graduates are short of demand sometimes. Just before graduation, they are hired in advance by China Construction Group, China Rail Group and many real estate groups etc. Graduate employment rate reaches 99% in 2007.
